Get to know Pink Scissors Fabric

So you have landed on my new website & fancy a little look around at my fabric so I thought I would let you know about my journey so far.

I’m Suzanne & I’ve always loved sewing & creating & in 2014 I started my business Pink Scissors Fabric after my job was becoming too stressful & I wanted to get “me” back  I also found it frustrating I couldn’t get lovely fabric locally so Pink Scissors Fabric was born

I started at home in one of my bedrooms buying & selling fabric & gradually grew and moved into garage & then into my 1st shop. It wasn’t really a shop but I was really proud & scared. I had local customers calling in & also sold online. I started to get a good local customer base.

In 2020 the pandemic arrived & my landlord had a new shop available to rent. It was only a few doors from my old one but was so much nicer with training rooms, good heating & windows so I decided to take the plunge again & take a risk & move. Rent & all expenses were more & it was uncertain times but I felt I couldn’t turn it down so with the help of my long suffering partner Rob I moved

Lockdown has been awful for small businesses but I’ve now got 3 talented sewing teachers who really support my business. Linda Parsons who is my quilting teacher. She is an expert in quilting & has displayed her quilts at Malvern festival of quilts. Sheila Kelly is a wiz with a sewing machine & makes wedding dresses & is amazing at dressmaking & fitting.  My newest teacher is Karen Newbury who is passionate about bags. We have regular sewing classes at the shop.

I have recently had an award from Sew magazine for winning best independent sewing shop in Wales 2021 which was thrilling.

I now support Project Linus who make quilts for traumatised children & have been given a lottery plaque to put in my shop for supporting with time, fabric & sewing space. I was presented this by the then Mayor of Bridgend Mayor Steve Bletsoe

Im a woman in business with 2 grown up children & believe if you want achieve something go for it and give it a try we are stronger than we think.

My shop is now more of a community with customers more like friends, a settee for them to chat & a cuppa if they like.  Great advice & help & I even hire out tables for you to sew at only £5 a day.

I thank you for sticking with me on my journey & hope you will be with me into the future & thank you for your support

If you would like to add a blog or tutorial or your sewing journey on here please let me know

Suzanne ❤️
